Carbon Motors considers energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental responsibility to be central to its core values. In support of these values, the Company is actively advancing green initiatives on multiple fronts in the development of the Carbon E7.
Reduce Consumption Law enforcement vehicles consume 1.5 billion gallons of gasoline, and emit over 14 million tons of CO2 every year - Carbon’s E7 will reduce both by up to 40%.
Sustainable Materials The utilization of recyclable plastics, and eliminating the need for an on-site paint facility that emits Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Carbon Motors will save the equivalent of over 17,000 homes worth of electricity during the manufacturing process.
Green Vehicle Cradle-to-Cradle Treatment Carbon Motors will re-use vehicles (certified used), re-use parts (dismantled vehicles), and recycle vehicles at end-of-life (over 95% recyclable) providing for a closed-loop cradle-to-cradle process.
Green Facilities By cleaning up and re-using a contaminated brownfield site and re-using equipment for light industrial assembly operations, the Carbon Campus will achieve LEED certification.
The Carbon Green Machine is committed to environmental responsibility. The Company will rehabilitate and refurbish a shuttered manufacturing facility, which will result in the remediation of significant trichloroethylene (TCE) contamination resulting from prior ownership of the facility. The use of a co-molded, colored film in the manufacturing process eliminates the need for a painting facility and the release of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) normally associated with those types of operations.
Additionally, clean diesel is the technically correct short to medium-term solution for law enforcement fleets that operate 24/7, 365 days a year, due to its inherent performance, safety, operational, fuel efficiency, and durability characteristics.
There are over 19,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States with a combined total of over 425,000 vehicles. These vehicles average only 8-14 miles per gallon and can sometimes drive up to 90,000 miles a year. With this size fleet, this usage profile, and this type of outdated technology, it is estimated that law enforcement in the United States burns through 1.5 billion gallons of gasoline annually and emits over 14 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per year. And taxpayers are shelling out over $4 billion each year for fuel expenditures alone, a number that only increases as the cost of fuel rises. Carbon Motors will use superior technologies to improve the performance and durability of a law enforcement vehicle, while also providing up to a 40 percent improvement in fuel economy. This will save taxpayer dollars while providing law enforcement first responders with the right technology for the critical task of securing our communities.
